The Space Ladies > Probono Project

Lily, Julie and Heide work on the most most important things to be included in their space.

Lily, Julie and Heide work on the most most important things to be included in their space.

On my calendar I held their time slot as "The Space Ladies."  Actually it was a meeting with local artists and provocateurs Julie Elkins of Gaptooth Studios, Lily Lamberta of All the Saints Theater Company, and painter and art instructor Heide Trepanier. You see, these three women are starting something.  There are a few thousand square feet with their name on the lease in Manchester.  Today we worked to solidify the ideas for the space, set deadlines, and created work plans.  We mapped from here to there, leaving a space for need in between.

There are plans for gardens, theaters, studio space, community classes, outdoor kitchens, performances.  Their dream list is huge.  So, stay tuned Richmond.  Once they settle on a name I am sure you will hear about it.

I am honored that chose to share this space with me.  I confided in Lily at the end that I always wanted to be an artist.  Her response, you are, this is your art.

*At The Spark Mill we are committed to taking on 1-2 probono clients at a time.  These are short engagements where our skill sets around strategy, planning, or creativity can really catapult the group to the next phase.  As a matter of practice, we plan to tell you their stories.
